Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born on July 9, 1956, is an American actor. Known for both his comedic and dramatic performances, he is considered to be one of the most admired and recognizable film stars worldwide and is widely regarded as an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was a Concord, California native to Janet Marylyn Hanks, a hospital worker and Amos Mefford Hanks an itinerant cook. His mother, originally called "Fraga" was part of part of a Portuguese family. His father, however, was mainly English. Tom was raised in what he describes as an "fractured" family. He did not have any acting experience in college , and credits the fact that he could not be cast in a college production as the reason he did not begin his career. He went downtown, and auditioned for a community production of a theater, and was then requested by the director of the show to visit Cleveland where the beginning of his acting career took off.
